Abstract
ABSTRACT PT. Mitra Rekatama Mandiri is located at Jl. Kop. Baja, No.2, Ceper, Klaten. This company is engaged in the manufacturing industry, that is metal casting. Production carried out such as steel, iron, aluminum, and etc. The process to produce a product in a company starts from the smelting, casting, molding, dismantling, inspection and finishing stages. So far, the company has not implemented TQM, resulting in decreased employee performance. This is obtained by the attendance data is still in manual form because there is no management support from the company, which results in a decrease in the level of employee work discipline. Based on the manual attendance data used in 2019, the average number of absent employees reached 81.42%, with late morning being the most dominant with an average of 37.58%. From this background, a problem formulation is made whether the implementation of TQM in the company will affect employee performance, especially in reducing absenteeism and tardiness in the company. The steps for implementing total quality management begin by compiling a questionnaire using the TQM variable, that’s customer satisfaction, employee empowerment, continuous improvement, company environment, management support with variables supported employee performance that’s effectiveness and efficiency, orientation and responsibility, discipline, and initiative. After that calculates the average value of each component of the questionnaire given to the respondent, then performs data analysis techniques comprise: reliability testing, validity test, classical assumption test, and hypothesis testing with the help of SPSS version 20. The results of this study indicate that the influence of TQM on employee performance. In this regard, companies need to implement TQM, which is hoped to reduce the level of employee absenteeism and delays that often occur in the company.
