ABSTRAK
Citra perempuan dalam film kerap kali digambarkan dengan sifat lemah, emosional,
dan bergantung dengan laki-laki. Film sebagai media massa bisa memengaruhi pikiran
penontonnya. Citra perempuan dalam film yang sering digambarkan tidak berdaya
dapat membuat perempuan semakin terkekeang oleh sistem patriarki dalam
masyarakat. Namun, terdapat film-film lain yang merepresentasikan citra perempuan
secara berbeda dari film-film kebanyakan, salah satunya adalah Enola Holmes.
Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui bagaimana representasi citra perempuan
dalam film Enola Holmes. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis semiotika
Roland Barthes yang terdiri dari makna denotasi, makna konotasi, serta mitos. Peneliti
juga menggunakan aspek citra diri dan sosial perempuan serta paham feminisme liberal
dalam proses penelitian. Peneliti menemukan bahwa empat fokus dari paham
feminisme liberal dimuat dalam film Enola Holmes melalui tanda-tanda yang ada dan
berpengaruh pada representasi citra perempuan dalam film tersebut. Dari hasil
penelitian diketahui bahwa citra perempuan yang ditampilkan adalah pemberani, tidak
mudah menyerah, dan memiliki keinginan kuat terhadap kesetaraan dan kebebasan.
Citra perempuan tersebut bersifat relevan dengan kondisi perempuan di masa sekarang.

ABSTRACT
The image of women in films is often described as weak, emotional, and dependent on
men. Film as a mass media can influence the minds of the audience. The image of
women in films that are often described as helpless can make women more constrained
by the patriarchal system in society. However, there are other films that represent the
image of women differently than most films, one of them is Enola Holmes. This research
aims to know how is the representation of the image of women in the film Enola
Holmes. The research methodology that was used is Semiotic Analysis of Roland
Barthes which consist of denotative meaning, connotative meaning, and myth.
Researcher also use the aspects of women’s self and social image and also liberal
feminism in the research process. The researcher finds out that four focuses of liberal
feminism are contained in the Enola Holmes film through the signs that exist and have
an affect to the representation of women’s image in the film. From the results of the
study, it is known that the image of women is brave, does not give up easily, and has a
strong desire for equality and freedom. The image of women ftom the movie is relevant
to the condition of women today.
