Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan makna simbol nilai budaya yang terkandung dalam prosesi upacara perkawinan suku Bugis di Bone Sulawesi Selatan. Metode penelitian ini adalah Kualitatif Deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara, observasi, dokumentasi dan kepustakaan. Teknik ini untuk mengetahui deskripsi simbol nilai-nilai yang terkadung dalam upacara perkawinan Bugis. Berdasarkan analisis, diketahui bahwa proses upacara perkawinan Bugis terbagi dalam 3 tahap yaitu pra-nikah, akad nikah dan pasca nikah yang semua kegiatan tersebut memiliki deskripsi yang mengandung nilainilai Religius dan nilai sosial yang sangat erat hubungannya dengan kehidupan dan aktivitas sehari hari masyarakat Bugis khususnya di Bone Sulawesi Selatan. Masyarakat Bugis yakin bahwa simbol dalam prosesi upacara perkawinan merupakan makna yang sakral dan tidak dapat ditentang atau diubah, namun jika mengalami perubahan itu tidak meninggalkan nilai-nilai terdahulu. Kesimpulan penelitian ini yaitu, dalam proses perkawinan Bugis terdapat ritual yang dilakukan seperti tahap pra-nikah disebut Mappacci yang disimbolisasikan dengan daun pacar yang berarti membersihkan diri, tahap Akad Nikah yang dilakukan dengan mappasikarawa yang berarti kesan pertama menyentuh anggota tubuh pengantin dengan harapan yang baik-baik dan tahap pasca Nikah yang dilakukan dengaan Mapparola yaitu kunjungan ke Rumah mertua. Menurut masyarakat Bugis perkawinan tidak hanya menyatukan 2 insan tapi meyatukan 2 keluarga besar. Status sosial seseorang dilihat dari pesta perkawinan yang digelar, semakin meriah pesta yang digelar maka semakin tinggi status sosial seseorang. Nilai-nilai dalam perkawinan Bugis tidak lain adalah nilai Religius dan nilai sosial seperti kekerabatan, persaudaraan, tolong-menolong, gotong-royong, dan inisiatif dalam bertindak. ABSTRACT This study, entitled "Description of the symbols of cultural values in the traditional wedding ceremony at the Bugis of South Sulawesi Bone". This study aimed to describe the meaning of the symbol of cultural values embodied in the marriage ceremony procession Bone Bugis in South Sulawesi. This study used Qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, documentation and literature. This technique to determine the description of symbol values contained within the marriage ceremony Bugis. Based on the analysis, it is known that the process of Bugis marriage ceremony is divided into 3 stages : pre marriage, marriage and post-marriage contract that all these activities have a description that contains the values of religious and social values are very closely related to the life and daily activities of the Bugis Bone particularly in South Sulawesi. Bugis society believes that the symbols in the procession of the marriage ceremony is a sacred meaning and can not be challenged or changed, but if there is a change not abandon previous values. The conclusion of this study is, in the process of Bugis marriage rituals are performed as pre-marital stage called Mappacci symbolized with henna leaves which means cleaning up, stage Akad Nikah performed with a first impression mappasikarawa which means touched the part of bride's body in the good hope and the post Marriages performed by Mapparola is visits to in-laws house. According to the Bugis society marriage is not only unites two person but to unites two large family. Social status of a person seen from the marriage party was held, the more the merrier party held means higher social status. The values in Bugis marriage is nothing but the value of religious and social values such as kinship, brotherhood, mutual help, mutual help, and in initiative.
