ABSTRAK
Rasisme merupakan suatu kepercayaan atau doktrin yang menyatakan bahwa
perbedaan biologis yang berada pada masing masing individu (ras, warna kulit,
warna rambut, dan lain - lain) menentukan suatu pencapaian budaya atau individu
yang menjadikan anggapan bahwa satu ras lebih unggul dibandingkan dengan ras
lainya. Inggris yang merupakan salah satu negara maju di Eropa tidak terlepas dari
adanya kasus rasisme. Tindakan rasisme yang terjadi di Inggris ditujukan kepada
anggota komunitas BAME. Peristiwa tragedy George Floyd pada tanggal 26 Mei
2020 yang menyebabkan serangkaian aksi demonstrasi Black Lives Matter di
Amerika yang kemudian beresonansi hingga menyebabkan munculnya gerakan
Black Lives Matter di Inggris. Skripsi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apa yang
menjadi latar belakang kemunculan gerakan Black Lives Matter di Inggris, dengan
menggunakan metode penelitian studi pustaka dengan teknik analisa data secara
kualitatif.

ABSTRACT
Racism is a belief or doctrine which states that the biological differences that exist
in each individual (race, skin color, hair color, etc.) determine a cultural or
individual achievement which makes the assumption that one race is superior to
other races. England, which is one of the developed countries in Europe, cannot be
separated from cases of racism. Acts of racism that occurred in the UK were
directed against members of the BAME community. The George Floyd tragedy on
May 26 2020 led to a series of Black Lives Matter demonstrations in America which
then resonated and led to the emergence of the Black Lives Matter movement in
England. This thesis aims to find out what is the background to the emergence of
the Black Lives Matter movement in England, using the literature study research
method with qualitative data analysis techniques.
