ABSTRAK
Pandemi Covid-19 menjadi salah satu bencana alam yang membawa banyak
perubahan terhadap tatanan kehidupan di Indonesia. Fenomena ini mengakibatkan
pemberitaan mengenai kasus tersebut tidak pernah luput dari sorotan media massa.
Penelitian ini ingin melihat bagaimana kecenderungan isi berita Covid-19
khususnya di Yogyakarta pada surat kabar Kedaulatan Rakyat. Jenis penelitian ini
adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan metode analisis isi deskriptif dan dianalisis
menggunakan teori komunikasi risiko. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa sajian
berita Covid-19 di Yogyakarta pada surat kabar KR belum selaras dengan aspek�aspek komunikasi risiko. Pemberitaan mengenai konsekuensi-konsekuensi yang
mungkin akan terjadi dan patut untuk diwaspadai justru mendapatkan porsi yang
sangat sedikit. Dalam melakukan pemberitaan juga belum menyajikan informasi
yang sensitif terhadap peran serta masyarakat, khususnya bagi masyarakat yang
terdampak secara langsung. Hal ini berkaitan dengan aspek komunikasi risiko yang
juga mengkaji proses refleksi atas ketidakpastian yang akan terjadi atau sebelum
terjadi. Selanjutnya, keterlibatan narasumber pada surat kabar KR cenderung
dipegang oleh figur otoritas (pemerintah serta berbagai pihak yang berwenang).
Fokus yang seharusnya diterapkan oleh komunikasi risiko yaitu dengan
mendengarkan saran serta pendapat para ahli, sehingga keterlibatan ilmuwan
maupun technical expert yang memegang peran penting.

ABSTRACT
The Covid-19 pandemic is one of the natural disasters that has brought many
changes to the order of life in Indonesia. This phenomenon resulted in the news
about the case never escape the spotlight of the mass media. This study wants to see
how the trend of the contents of the Covid-19 news, especially in Yogyakarta, in the
Kedaulatan Rakyat newspaper. This type of research is quantitative with a
descriptive content analysis method approach and analyzed using risk
communication theory. The results showed that the presentation of the Covid-19
news in Yogyakarta in the KR newspaper was not yet in harmony with the aspects
of risk communication. Reporting about the consequences that might occur and
should be watched out for actually gets a very small portion. In reporting, it also
has not provided information that is sensitive to community participation,
especially for people who are directly affected. This relates to the risk
communication aspect which also examines the process of reflection on
uncertainties that will occur or before they occur. Furthermore, the involvement of
sources in the KR newspaper tends to be held by authority figures (government and
various authorities). The focus that should be applied by risk communication is to
listen to the advice and opinions of experts, so that the involvement of scientists and
technical experts plays an important role.
