Abstract

Mobile phone is one example of technology that is growing very rapidly with one of the facility’s shor message service (SMS) which allow to send and receive a short messages quickly, easily, anywhere and cost are also relatively cheap. Sms facility can be used to improve the performance of an educational institution. One is on department of informatic engineering of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta can use SMS to process data management and practical work (PW) registration students. Sms use is intended to shorten the registration process as well as assist the student KP data in data management PW and the registration process. The research methodology used by waterfall methodology. Application built using sms technology based on CDMA (code division multiple access). With this applicaton student can utilize sms to register PW, and registration data stored in the application database to then output the resulting PW letter requesting permission for the company, cover letter guidance to lecturers PW, and PW assessment letter. In addition, students can request information on how the format of writing an sms for registration PW, supervisor checks, and checks the value of PW by sending an sms in accordance with the format specified. The system will provide answer related to the information required by sending an sms reply.
