Abstract
The research was conducted at PT. Nusantara Berau Coal which is located in Gunung Tabur District, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan Province. PT. Nusantara Berau Coal is a company engaged in coal mining.
Occupational Health and Safety is an important matter and needs to be considered by all parties, because with the guarantee of occupational safety and health, employee performance will increase. Coal transportation activities are the highest stage of mining activities. The main objective in the research conducted at PT Nusantara Berau Coal was to calculate the accident statistics that occurred each year by using the method of accident statistics calculation based on Indonesian National Standard 13-6618-2001, also carried out an analysis to determine the factors that cause accidents and diseases due to work. An evaluation of the implementation of occupational safety and health programs is also carried out. From the results of the study known:
a. Accident statistics have decreased from year to year.
b. There were accidents in coal transportation activities caused by 47.36% unsafe actions and 52.64% unsafe conditions.
c. Potential hazards that existed at a series of stages were mobilizing Dump trucks from the parking area, dump trucks entering the loading point area, dumptruck queuing at the loading points, the process of filling coal loads into the dumptruck, dump truck trips to the stockpile, dumping units so monitoring needed .
d. Based on the fourth element in the Mining Safety Management System, PT Nusantara Berau Coal has implemented Occupational Safety and Health programs.However, there are still programs that have not been fully implemented
