Abstract
Pricing and price competition is the main problem faced by the firm (Kotler
et al, 2007). Consumers tend to purchase a good quality product with a low price,
meanwhile for the firms pricing is a decisional factor to gain profits. Moreover, the
firms need to consider the total production plan well since it can affect the firm’s
revenue. Excessing products may cause excessing stocks, however, if a firm cannot
meet the consumers’ demand due to out of stock, it missed the opportunity to get
profits.
This study investigates on determining selling price and the combination of
product quantities to be produced. The aim of the research is to develop pricing
models and optimizing the multi-item products with stochastic demands. The
pricing models used is the basic model from Segal (2003) which used by Nurmala
(2013) in her research as well. In this research, it conducted in determining the
selling price for every product, forecasting, optimizing the combination of product
quantities, and changing production capacity as limiting functions by using
sensitivity analysis.
Based on the solution resulted from the model development, the selling price
for Bag A, B, and C for each is Rp 297.344, Rp 281.445, and Rp 289.398. The
optimal number of production for Bag A is fluctuated in every period, meanwhile
for Bag B and C is constant in each period which are 20 units and 25 units. The
total profits gained by applying the optimal selling price founded on the developing
model with the optimal combination of product quantities is Rp 221.926.231. Then,
the result of sensitivity analysis for the combination of product quantities from Bag
A and C is sensitive. It is because both products produce a different number of
combination but not significant, different from Bag B which is not sensitive.
Furthermore, the profits will increase when the production capacity increases as
well.
