Abstract
ABSTRAK Film DI Timur Matahari merupakan salah satu film yang menyoroti tentang perdamaian di Indonesia Timur khususnya di provinsi Papua. Dalam penelitian ini banyak ditampilkan kehidupan masyarakat Papua khususnya tentang cara pandang penduduk lokal terhadap kebudayaan di luar suku. Film ini dibuat dengan tujuan untuk mengubah pandangan masyarakat umum yang beranggapan bahwa Indonesia Timur merupakan kawasan yang rawan konflik melalui simbol-simbol dalam film. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi simbol-simbol yang merepresentasikan tentang nilai perdamaian yang terdapat pada adegan-adegan film Di Timur Matahari. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan hasil temuan diungkapkan kedalam bentuk data deskriptif. Temuan-temuan dalam penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan pendekatan semiotika Roland Barthes tentang penandaan dua tingkat yaitu denotatif dan konotatif. Melalui penelitian ini penulis menemukan adanya simbol-simbol yang merepresentasikan nilai perdamaian yang termuat dalam visual film yang diperkuat dengan adanya teks dialog. Nilai perdamaian yang diperoleh adalah nilai tentang kesepakatan, rasa aman, penyelesaian konflik melalui musyawarah adat, sikap menerima perbedaan, dan sikap menghindari balas dendam. Dari penelitian ini penulis menyimpulkan bahwa dalam film Di Timur Matahari termuat pesan tentang pentingnya menjaga perdamaian yang merupakan tanggung jawab bersama untuk melangsungan kehidupan bermasyarakat yang aman dan sentosa . Film Di Timur Matahari merupakan harapan Ari sihasale bagi masyarakat papua agar dapat hidup dengan damai. Perdamaian di Papua bukan hanya cita-cita tapi bisa juga diterapkan dalam kehidupan nyata. Kata kunci : semiotika, makna perdamaian, film ABSTRACT Di Timur Matahari The Movie is one of the movie that highlights on peace in estern indonesia, particulary in the province of papua. In this research displayed how people's lives in Papua, especially on the local population perspective on the culture outside the tribe. The film was made with the aim to change the views of the general public who think that Indonesia East is an area that is prone to conflict through symbols in the movie. This research aims to identify the symbols that represent about the value of peace contained in scenes of Di Timur Matahari the movie. The research is a qualitative research with the findings disclosed in the form of descriptive data. The findings of the study were analyzed using semiotic approach Roland Barthes about flagging two levels, namely denotative and connotative. Through this research the authors found the symbols that represent the value of peace contained in the film visually reinforced by the dialogue text. Peace value obtained is the value of the deal, a sense of security, conflict resolution through customary deliberation, acceptance of difference, and the attitude of avoiding retaliation. From this research, the authors conclude that in Di Timur Matahari The Movie contained a message about the importance of maintaining peace which is a shared responsibility for social life melangsungan safe and prosperous. Di Timur Matahari The Movie is the hope of the director of the movie Ari Sihasale for the people of Papua in order to live in peace. Peace in Papua is not just ideals but can also be applied in real life. Key words: Semiotics, The meaning of peace, Film
