Abstract
ABSTRAK Film adalah media yang digunakan untuk menyampaikan kritik sosial dan merepresentasikan realitas sosial. Film pendek “A Lady Caddy Who Never Saw A Hole In One” merupakan salah satu bentuk representasi dari protes warga tentang modernisasi yang menyebabkan perubahan sosial masyarakat di Yogyakarta. Modernisasi adalah proses perubahan dari cara-cara tradisional ke cara-cara baru yang lebih maju dan dimaksudkan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan rakyat. Penelitian yang berjudul Analisis Semiotika Representasi Perubahan Sosial Masyarakat dalam Film “A Lady Caddy Who Never Saw A Hole In One” Sebagai Dampak Akibat dari Modernisasi di Yogyakarta bertujuan untuk mengetahui, memaknai makna simbol-simbol dan menjelaskan mengenai representasi perubahan sosial masyarakat sebagai akibat dari modernisasi kota di Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan semiotika Roland Barthes yang digunakan untuk menafsirkan tanda maupun simbol yang direpresentasikan dalam film. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam film ini terdapat tujuh representasi perubahan sosial masyarakat sebagai akibat dari modernisasi di Yogyakarta, yaitu hilangnya lahan hijau akibat dari proses pembangunan, terjadinya perpindahan penduduk dari desa ke kota (urbanisasi), munculnya diferensiasi pekerjaan sebagai akibat dari modernisasi, munculnya kelas sosial pada masyarakat modern, pergeseran nilai dan norma masyarakat Indonesia, kekerasan akibat segmentasi sosial dan kesenjangan sosial pada masyarakat Indonesia. Kata kunci : Modernisasi, Semiotika, Film, Representasi ABSTRACT Movie is a media that is used to convey the social critics and represents the social reality. “A Lady Caddy Who Never Saw A Hole In One” short movie is one of the representation forms of public’s criticism toward modernization that causes of social change in Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, modernization is a changing process from conventional behaviors into newly advanced behaviors, which is aimed to lift the social welfare. The research titled Analisis Semiotika Representasi Perubahan Sosial Masyarakat dalam Film “A Lady Caddy Who Never Saw A Hole In One” Sebagai Dampak Akibat dari Modernisasi di Yogyakarta is aimed to discover, to interpret the meaning of symbols and to explain about the representation of social change in society as the impact of modernization in Yogyakarta. In this research, the writer is using Roland Barthes’ semiotics approach that is used to interpret both sign and symbol that are represented in the movie. The result shows that theses seven social change represents the impact of modernization in Yogyakarta, which are; the loss of green area as the impact of development process, urbanization, work differentiation appearance as the impact of modernization, social class appearance in modern society, values and norms’ shifting, violation as the impact of social segmentation and social gap in Indonesian society.
