Abstract

Trichoderma harzianum is an antagonistic fungus against plant pathogens, but storage in pellet form remains suboptimal. This study aimed to determine the best combination of packaging type and storage temperature for maintaining T. harzianum pellet quality during storage. The experiment used a split-plot design within a Completely Randomized Design with two factors: storage temperature (35℃, 28℃, and 15℃) as the main plot and packaging type (aluminium foil and bagasse box) as the subplot. Data analysis was performed using ANOVA followed by DMRT at the 5% significance level, while color parameters were analyzed descriptively. An interaction between storage temperature and packaging type was observed on spore viability at Day 14 and Day 28, pellet weight, and moisture content. The combination of 15℃ and bagasse box was the best treatment for storing T. harzianum pellets for more than 35 days. Storage at 15℃ was the best temperature for maintaining the quality of T. harzianum pellets based on spore viability, spore density, pellet weight, and moisture content, while 28℃ accelerated colony color development. Bagasse box was the most suitable packaging of T. harzianum pellets by maintaining spore viability, spore density, and moisture content, whereas aluminium foil was effective in maintaining pellet weight stability
