Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI),
Human development index (HDI), Corruption Perception Index (CPI), and inflation
on Gross National Income per capita GNI in 11 ASEAN countries during the period
2014-2023, and evaluate the difference in GNI between countries that are still
trapped in the middle income trap (MIT) and those that have exited. The method
used is panel data regression with Random Effect Model approach. The results
show that FDI and HDI have a significant positive effect on GNI, while GPA has a
significant negative effect. Inflation has no significant effect. The dummy variable
MIT has a significant negative effect on (GNI), indicating that countries trapped in
MIT have lower per capita income. The model's R-squared value of 0.9645
indicates a very strong level of explanation of the independent variables on (GNI).
