Abstract
Citrus is one of the most popular fruits in Indonesia that has experienced significant
growth in recent years. However, in 2023 there were a decrease in production
caused by pest and disease attacks, especially Citrus Vein Phloem Degeneration
(CVPD) disease caused by Diaphorina citri vectors. This study aims to determine
respond of Diaphorina citri to the application of different concentration of kaolin
in host finding behavior and the more effective concentration of kaolin on repelling
Diaphorina citri as well as those that do not inhibit plant growth. The research
method used non-choice and choice test with completely randomized design
(CRD). The treatment used one control and five different concentrations of kaolin
are 1%, 3%, 5%, 7%, and 9% with 3 repetitions. Kaolin affects Diaphorina citri in
finding its host because it produces a significant difference with the control in the
choice and non-choice methods because kaolin can form a white layer that makes
Diaphorina citri disturbed in finding its host. The concentration of 7% kaolin from
the beginning to the end of the observation in the choice and non-choice methods
resulted average number of perching plants although not significantly different
from the other treatments. The treatment without kaolin and kaolin concentrations
of 1% and 5% from the choice test and non-choice test methods did not experience
a decrease in growth but kaolin concentrations of 3%, 7% and 9% experienced a
decrease at certain times but not to the extreme.
