Abstract

Fruit flies are an important pest in white guava crops. Effective control of fruit fly
pests is the use of traps with vegetable attractants modified with encapsulation
technology. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of encapsulation of
basil and clove leaves extracts on the population of fruit flies trapped, and determine
the effect of encapsulation of basil and clove leaves extracts to attractant durability.
This research conducted from December 2024 to February 2025 at Balai P3MBTP
Unit Tambak, Kulon Progo. This study used the Randomized Complete Block
Design method with 8 treatments, namely P0 (basil leaves extract 0,5 mL + clove
leaves extract 0,5 mL), P1 (encapsulated basil leaves extract 0,5 mL + encapsulated
clove leaves extract 0, 5 mL), P2 (basil leaves extract 1 mL), P3 (clove leaves
extract 1 mL), P4 (encapsulated basil leaves extract 1 mL), P5 (encapsulated clove
leaves extract 2 mL), P6 (distilled water), P7 (methyl eugenol 1 mL). The
treatments were repeated 3 times. Research shows the use of attractant combination
of encapsulated basil and cloves leaf extracts proved able to capture fruit flies
gradually and consistently in the field for up to 9 days.
