konsentrasi giberelin, jenis bahan ekstraksi yaitu air, abu gosok, kain katun sama,
konsentrasi giberelin 75 pmm menghasilkan nilai terbaik pada parameter parameter
indeks vigor, potensi tumbuh maksimum, tinggi bibit tanaman 21, 28, dan 35 HSS,
jumlah daun 28 dan 35 HSS, diameter batang 28 HSS, dan berat kering 35 HSS.

Concentrations on the Germination and Growth of Papaya (Carica papaya
L.) Seedlings

ABSTRACT
The challenge in papaya production was the presence of a sarcotesta layer on the
seeds, which caused seed dormancy. One method to overcome this dormancy was
to use different types of sarcotesta extraction materials and to soak the seeds in the
plant growth regulator gibberellin. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of
various types of sarcotesta extraction materials and gibberellin concentrations on
the germination and growth of papaya seeds. The research was conducted from May
to June 2024, involving two experiments: germination tests and seedling growth
tests. The study employed a factorial Completely Randomized Design with 2
factors and 3 replications. Factor 1 was the type of sarcotesta extraction material
with three levels: water, scrub ash, cotton cloth, and Factor 2 was gibberellin
concentration with 4 levels: no gibberellin, 25 ppm, 50 ppm, 75 ppm. The results
showed no interaction between the type of extraction material and gibberellin
concentration. There was same result of extraction material among the treatments.
Gibberellin concentration of 75 ppm yielded the best results for several parameters,
including vigor index, maximum growth potential, plant height at 21, 28, and 35
days after sowing (DAS), number of leaves at 28 and 35 DAS, stem diameter at 28
DAS, and dry weight at 35 DAS.
