Abstract

ABSTRAK
Secara administratif, lokasi penelitian berada di Kecamatan Sangatta Utara,
Kabupaten Kutai Timur, Provinsi Kalimantan Timur. Area penelitian memiliki luas
1,6 Km x 2,5 Km yang merupakan wilayah izin usaha pertambangan PT. Kaltim
Prima Coal. Secara geografis lokasi penelitian terletak pada UTM WGS 1984 Zona
50N dengan koordinat Xmax: 561200, Xmin: 559600, Ymax: 75500, dan Ymin:
73000. Dalam aktivitas pertambangan tak lepas dengan adanya kemungkinan
failure atau kelongsoran. Adanya analisis dan rekayasa terhadap kemungkinan
hingga terjadinya kelongsoran sangatlah diperlukan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini
adalah untuk mengetahui keadaan geologi dan persebaran nilai Uniaxial
Compressive Strength (UCS) serta Geological Strength Index (GSI) pada Pit Inul
Middle Panel 3 Timur, PT Kaltim Prima Coal. Persebaran nilai inilah yang menjadi
salah satu acuan ketika aktivitas pertambangan di Pit Inul Middle Panel 3 Timur
beroperasi kembali. Metodologi yang digunakan pada penelitian ini meliputi
pengambilan data primer di lapangan dengan melakukan pemetaan geologi berupa
jenis litologi, kedudukan lapisan batuan, serta struktur geologi dan geologi teknik
berupa scanline dan UCS menggunakan schmidt hammer. Selanjutnya, melakukan
perhitungan dari data lapangan dan analisis data sekunder dengan menggunakan
Microsoft Excel serta software Leapfrog 2023.2. Berdasarkan penelitian yang
dilakukan didapatkan hasil berupa keadaan geologi dan geologi teknik. Secara
geologi daerah penelitian tersusun dari satuan tua ke muda atas satuan batupasir
Balikpapan, satuan batulempung Balikpapan, dan satuan material timbunan. Aspek
struktur geologi ditemukan pada daerah penelitian berupa sesar mendatar kanan,
dan kekar gerus. Secara tinjauan geologi teknik, daerah penelitian memiliki nilai
UCS, RMR, dan GSI yang berbeda-beda. Range UCS berada pada nilai 0,3-3,3
MPa, RMR dengan range 56,3-60,4, dan GSI dengan range 53,9-56,85. Hasil akhir
dari penelitian ini dikemas dalam bentuk peta lokasi pengamatan, peta
geomorfologi, peta geologi, profil batuan, dan model persebaran nilai GSI dan
UCS.

ABSTRACT
The research location is administratively situated in North Sangatta District, East
Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan Province, within the mining concession area of
PT Kaltim Prima Coal. The study area covers 1.6 km x 2.5 km. Geographically, it
is located in UTM WGS 1984 Zone 50N with coordinates Xmax: 561200, Xmin:
559600, Ymax: 75500, and Ymin: 73000. Mining activities are inherently prone to
failures or landslides. Therefore, analysis and engineering interventions to assess
and mitigate these risks are crucial. This research aims to understand the
geological conditions and the distribution of Uniaxial Compressive Strength (UCS)
values and the Geological Strength Index (GSI) in Pit Inul Middle Panel 3 East, PT
Kaltim Prima Coal. The distribution of these values will be used as a reference
when mining operations resume in Pit Inul Middle Panel 3 East. The methodology
used in this study includes primary data collection in the field by conducting
geological mapping of lithology types, rock layer orientations, and geological
structures, as well as engineering geology involving scanline surveys and UCS
measurements using a Schmidt hammer. Subsequently, field data calculations and
secondary data analysis are performed using Microsoft Excel and Leapfrog 2023.2
software. Based on the research conducted, the geological and engineering geology
conditions were obtained. Geologically, the study area is composed, from oldest to
youngest, of the Balikpapan sandstone unit, Balikpapan claystone unit, and
overburden material unit. Geological structures identified in the area include right-
lateral strike-slip faults and shear joints. In terms of engineering geology, the study
area has varying values of UCS, RMR, and GSI. The UCS values range from 0.3 to
3.3 MPa, RMR values range from 56.3 to 60.4, and GSI values range from 53.9 to
56.85. The final results of this research are presented in the form of an observation
location map, a geomorphology map, a geology map, rock profiles, and a
distribution model of GSI and UCS values.
