Aktivitas pertambangan metode openpit mining berkontribusi pada perubahan
iklim. Pertambangan batubara melalui beberapa kegiatannya (landclearing dan
pemakaian bahan bakar minyak) merilis karbon dioksida yang berdampak pada
perubahan iklim. Namun, melalui Permen Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral RI Nomor
26 tahun 2018, nilai karbon dioksida dapat diserap dengan melakukan reklamasi dalam
bentuk revegetasi. Hasil revegetasi tersebut berpotensi menjadi sumber simpanan
karbon, serapan karbon dioksida serta memperbaiki profil kesuburan tanah. Penelitian
ini bermaksud menganalisis jumlah simpanan karbon atas permukaan, serapan karbon
dioksida, profil kesuburan tanah, serta merekomendasikan teknik pengelolaan lahan
revegetasi dalam upaya meningkatkan serapan karbon dioksida.
Serapan karbon dioksida dikonversi dari nilai simpanan karbon pada vegetasi
yang terdapat pada biomassa. Penentuan nilai simpanan karbon mengacu pada SNI
7724 tahun 2011. Identifikasi biomassa dilakukan dengan teknik nondestruktif
sampling yang terdapat pada tegakan (pohon, tiang, dan pancang) dan nekromassa
menggunakan parameter diameter, tinggi, dan berat jenis vegetasi dalam plot 20m x
20m. Sedangkan, perhitungan serasah dan tumbuhan bawah dilakukan dengan teknik
destruktif sampling menggunakan parameter berat basah dan berat kering sampel
dalam plot 2m x 2m. Sampel diambil dengan dasar adanya kesaaman umur tanaman
pada setiap area revegetasi yang terdiri atas 15 plot pada tahun tanam 2019 – 2021.
Selain itu, sampel tanah juga diambil untuk menganalisis profil kesuburan tanah
dengan metode terganggu pada parameter NPK, KTK dan pH serta metode tidak
terganggu pada parameter C-Organik.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan total simpanan karbon pada tahun tanam 2019-
2021 masing-masing sebesar 9,109 ton/ha : 6,398 ton/ha : 5,549 ton/ha. Serapan CO2
2019 menjadi yang terbesar dengan 33,431 ton/ha, disusul 2020 sebesar 23,482 ton/ha,
dan 2021 sebesar 20,365 ton/ha. Profil kesuburan tanah pada tiap parameter
didominasi oleh klasifikasi sedang – tinggi. Hasil tersebut belum sesuai dengan kriteria
simpanan karbon 138 ton/ha (IPCC, 2006) karena mudanya umur vegetasi. Simpanan
karbon dan serapan karbon dioksida pada area revegetasi dapat ditingkatkan dengan
memperbanyak tanaman penghasil serapan CO2 yang besar yaitu, sengon dan jabon.

REVEGETATION LAND MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES BASED ON
ANALYSIS OF THE POTENTIAL CARBON STORE AND CARBON DIOXIDE
ABSORPTION ON THE TANIA PIT OF PT KALTIM PRIMA COAL

ABSTRACT
Open pit mining as a mining activity contribute to climate change. Coal mining
through several activities (land clearing and use of fuel oil) releases carbon dioxide
which has an impact on climate change. However, through the Republic of Indonesia
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 26 of 2018, the value
of carbon dioxide can be absorbed by reclamation of revegetation. The results of this
revegetation have the potential to be a source of carbon savings, carbon dioxide
absorption, and improve the soil fertility profile. This research aims to analyze the
amount of carbon savings on the surface, carbon dioxide uptake, soil fertility profile,
and recommend revegetation land management techniques to increase carbon dioxide
uptake.
Carbon dioxide absorption is converted from the value of carbon savings in
vegetation contained in biomass. Determination of carbon savings values refers to SNI
7724 of 2011. Biomass identification using non-destructive sampling techniques found
in stands trees (trees, poles and saplings) and necromass using parameters of diameter,
height, and specific gravity of vegetation in a 20m x 20m plot. Meanwhile, the
calculation of litter and undergrowth using a destructive sampling technique using the
wet weight and dry weight parameters of the samples in a 2m x 2m plot. Samples were
taken on the basis of the same characteristics in each revegetation area consisting of
15 plots in the planting year 2019 – 2021. Moreover, soil samples were also taken to
analyze the soil fertility profile using the disturbed method for NPK, CEC and pH
parameters and the undisturbed method for C-Organic parameters.
The research results show that the total carbon savings in the planting year
2019-2021 is 9,109 tonnes/ha : 6,398 tonnes/ha : 5,549 tonnes/ha. CO2 absorption in
2019 was the largest with 33,431 tonnes/ha, followed by 2020 at 23,482 tonnes/ha,
and 2021 at 20,365 tonnes/ha. The soil fertility profile for each parameter is dominated
by the medium - high classification. These results are not in accordance with the
carbon savings criteria of 138 tons/ha (IPCC, 2006) due to the age of the vegetation
is young. The carbon storage and carbon dioxide absorption in the revegetation area
can be increased by planting more sengon and jabon.
