Abstract
Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai kualitas dan geometri lapisan batubara Formasi Latih dengan menggunakan metode well logging. Penelitian dilakukan di Daerah Sidung, Kecamatan Kelay, Kabupaten Berau, Provinsi Kalimantan Timur. Secara regional daerah penelitian berada di sub cekungan berau yang merupakan bagian cekungan tarakan. Lapisan batubara pada daerah penelitian terendapkan pada lingkungan pengendapan Lower Delta Plain. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu data gamma ray log, density log dan data uji laboratorium berupa kandungan abu dan kalori. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menganalisa defleksi gamma ray log untuk mengetahui nilai kandungan shale dan analisa defleksi density log untuk mengetahui nilai densitas litologi daerah penelitian. Sedangkan data kandungan abu dan kalori digunakan untuk mengetahui kualitas lapisan batubara. Geometri lapisan batubara meliputi ketebalan, kemiringan dan kemenerusan lapisan batubara. Ketebalan lapisan batubara pada daerah penelitian termasuk ketebalan tipis (0,715 m) sampai sedang (2,67 m). Struktur yang terdapat pada daerah penelitian yaitu sesar normal yang berarah baratlaut-tenggara. Kemiringan lapisan batubara berarah baratlaut-tenggara dengan kemiringan 100 sampai 200. Pada daerah sesar terjadi peningkatan nilai kandungan shale (0,083%) dan kandungan abu (8,77%), terjadi penurunan nilai kalori (3555,95cal/gr) dan densitas (1,51gr/cc) lapisan batubara. Kata kunci : Well logging, gamma ray log, density log, geometri lapisan batubara,dan kualitas batubara. The research has been done about coal quality and geometry seam in Latih Formation using well logging method. The research has been done in Sidung area, Kelay subdistrict, Berau district, East Kalimantan. Regionally, this area located in Berau sub-basin part of Tarakan basin. Coal seam in the research area sedimented at Lower Delta Plain. The research using gamma ray log, density log and laboratorium test result. The research has been done by analizing the deflection of gamma ray log to get value of shale content and deflection of density log to get the density of lithology in research area. Data of ash content and calorific value used to define the quality of coal seams. Geometry of coal seam included the thickness, slope, and continuous of coal seam. Coal seams thickness in this reasearch area counted as thin thickness (0,715 m) to medium thickness (2,67 m). The structure in this area is normal fault with Northwest-Southeast direction. Coal dip of this area extend from west to East. Shale content has increase in fault area, value of shale content (0,08348613 %) and ash content (8,771316 %), and decrease by calory value (35555,955 cal/gr) and density (1,509538 gr/cc).
