TANAM TERHADAP PERKECAMBAHAN DAN PERTUMBUHAN BIBIT
SENGON LAUT ( Paraserianthes falcataria )

ABSTRAK
Sengon laut (Paraserianthes falcataria) merupakan salah satu jenis yang
dikembangkan dalam pembangunan Hutan Tanaman Industri maupun Hutan
Rakyat di Indonesia. Penggunaan benih bermutu rendah menyebabkan daya
adaptasi tanaman dilapangan menjadi berkurang dan produksi kayu menurun.
Benih sengon termasuk benih ortodoks yang cepat mengalami kemunduran
terutama jika kondisi lingkungan penyimpanan kurang menguntungkan. Tujuan
penelitian ini adalah (1) Mengetahui interaksi antara lama perendaman larutan
H2SO4 dengan berbagai macam media tanam terhadap perkecambahan dan
pertumbuhan bibit sengon, (2) Menentukan lama perendaman H2SO4 yang terbaik
terhadap perkecambahan benih sengon laut, (3) Menentukan media tanam yang
terbaik untuk pertumbuhan bibit sengon laut. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan
adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan dua faktor. Faktor yang pertama
dengan perendaman larutan H2SO4 96 % selama 5 menit (L1), 10 menit (L2), 15
menit (L3), 20 Menit (L4). Faktor Kedua dengan komposisi media tanam antara
Media tanah dengan cocopeat (3 : 1) untuk M1, media tanah dengan cocopeat (1 :
1) untuk M2, media tanah dengan cocopeat (1 : 3) untuk M3. Hasil percobaan
dianalis keragamannya 5% kemudian diuji lanjut dengan Uji Jarak Berganda
Duncan (UJBD) taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat interaksi antar
perlakuan lama perendaman H2SO4 96 % dan macam media tanam yang berbeda
terhadap parameter volume akar 4 MST, 6 MST, dan 8 MST. Perlakuan lama
perendaman selama 10 menit memberikan hasil terbaik parameter, daya
berkecambah, indeks vigor, kecepatan tumbuh, tinggi bibit, bobot segar, bobot
kering, dan volume akar. Perlakuan media tanam antara tanah dengan cocopeat
(1:3) merupakan media yang terbaik dalam parameter volume akar, tinggi tanaman,
bobot basah, dan bobot kering.

EFFECT OF H2SO4 IMMERSION TIME AND TYPES OF PLANTING
MEDIA TO THE GERMINATION AND THE GROWTH SENGON LAUT
(Paraserianthes falcataria) SEEDLINGS

ABSTRACT
Sengon laut (Paraserianthes falcataria) is one of the species developed both
in Industrial Plantation Forests and Community Forests development in Indonesia.
The use of low-quality of seedlings causes the adaptability of plants in the field and
the production become decrease. Sengon laut seeds are orthodox seeds that can
decline rapidly mainly if the storage conditions are unfavorable. The aims of this
study are to (1) determine the interaction between the duration of immersion in
H2SO4 solution with various types of planting media to the germination and growth
of Sengon Laut seedling, (2) determine the best soaking time of H2SO4 on Sengon
laut seeds germination, (3) determine the best planting media for the growth of
Sengon Laut seedling. The research method used a Completely Randomized Design
(CRD) with two factors. The first factor was soaking in 96% H2SO4 solution for 5
minutes (L1), 10 minutes (L2), 15 minutes (L3), 20 minutes (L4). The second factor
was the composition of the planting media between soil media and cocopeat (3: 1)
for M1, soil media with cocopeat (1 : 1) for M2, soil media with cocopeat (1 : 3)
for M3. The experiment results were analyzed by 5% of its diverstiy and then
further tested with Duncan's Multiple Distance Test (DMDT) at 5% level. The
results showed the interaction between the treatment duration of the immersion in
96% H2SO4 and different types of planting media on the parameters of root volume
4 WAP, 6 WAP, and 8 WAP. The treatment for soaking for 10 years gave the best
results for parameters, germination, vigor index, growth speed, seedling height,
fresh weight, dry weight, and root volume. Planting media treatment between soil
and cocopeat (1:3) was the best media in terms of root volume, plant height, wet
weight, and dry weight parameters.
