Abstract

ABSTRAK
SMK Negeri 8 Surakarta merupakan sekolah kesenian sekaligus sekolah
inklusi. Berbagai permasalahan dihadapi siswa terutama jurusan pedhalangan dengan
mayoritas siswa laki-laki, yang tidak semua siswa mempelajari pedhalangan sejak
kecil, selain itu jurusan pedhalangan hanya dibuka satu-satunya oleh SMK Negeri 8
Surakarta saja. Dalam hal ini peneliti merasa perlu melakukan penelitian dengan judul
“Penerapan Komunikasi Interpersonal Guru Dalam Memotivasi Belajar Siswa Jurusan
Pedhalangan SMK Negeri 8 Surakarta”. Pada skripsi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui
secara mendalam komunikasi interpersonal guru terhadap siswa yang sudah diterapkan
dalam upaya memotivasi belajar kepada siswa Jurusan Pedhalangan SMK Negeri 8
Surakarta dan bagaimana hambatan-hambatan dalam proses memotivasi belajar siswa
Jurusan Pedhalangan SMK 8 Surakarta. Untuk mengungkapkan permasalahan tersebut
secara mendalam, peneliti menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif, teknik
pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis
data dengan cara reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan kemudian
memverifikasi agar relevan dengan tujuan penelitian. Teori yang digunakan dalam
penelitian ini yaitu teori communication competence. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan
bahwa penerapan komunikasi interpersonal guru dalam memotivasi belajar siswa
sudah berjalan dengan baik yaitu guru mampu membangun kedekatan yang
ditunjukkan dengan memposisikan guru setara dengan siswa dalam situasi tertentu,
memberikan pesan yang sifatnya persuasif sehingga memberikan penyelesaian yang
solutif dan mampu menunjukkan sikap terbuka, empati, sikap mendukung, dan
kesetaraaan. Dalam penerapan komunikasi interpersonal ini tidak sepenuhnya berjalan
lancar dan ditemukan berbagai hambatan seperti hambatan fisik, hambatan secara
psikologis dan hambatan kepribadian.

ABSTRACT
SMK Negeri 8 Surakarta is an arts school as well as an inclusive school. There
are various problems faced by students, especially the pedhalangan department with
the majority of male students, not all students have studied pedhalangan since they
were young, besides that the pedhalangan department is only opened by SMK Negeri
8 Surakarta. In this case the researcher felt the need to conduct research with the title
"The Application of Teacher Interpersonal Communication in Motivating Students
Learning of the Department of Pedhalangan at SMK Negeri 8 Surakarta". This thesis
aims to determine in depth the interpersonal communication between teachers and
students that has been applied in an effort to motivate students to learn of the
Pedhalangan Department of SMK Negeri 8 Surakarta and how the obstacles in the
process of motivating student learning from the Pedhalangan Department of SMK 8
Surakarta. To reveal these problems in depth, researchers used qualitative research
types, data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation.
Data analysis techniques by means of data reduction, data presentation and drawing
conclusions then verify to make it relevant to the research objectives. The theory used
in this research is the theory of communication competence. The results showed that
the application of teacher interpersonal communication in motivating students learning
had gone well, namely the teacher was able to build closeness which was shown by
positioning the teacher on a par with students in certain situations, giving messages that
were persuasive in nature so as to provide a solution and able to show openness,
empathy, supportive attitude, and equality. In the application of interpersonal
communication, it does not run smoothly and various obstacles are found such as
physical barriers, psychological barriers and personality barriers.
