Abstract

ABSTRACT
The research is conducted on Meranteh dredge, PT. Timah (Persero)Tbk,
Bangka, and it discusses the jig Clean Up performances in the process of
concentrating tin ores. The main goal of this research is to evaluate of Jig Clean
Up productivity success, namely grade, recovery, and ratio of concentration in
order to qualify the target of the company, which is having 30-40% Sn grade and
recovery > 97%.
Regarding the initial condition of jig clean up in the concentrating process
on the dredge, there is often a deadlock in the screening due to the clogging of
gravels. There is also a lot of ragging whose shape and relative density do not
match. The length and the frequency of the stroke is also too fast, leaving the soft
tin minerals with no chance to precipitate, thus it is carried away into tailing. This
problem leads the researcher to make a study that aims to enhance the
performance of jig, so that the company can accomplish its target, by doing an
experiment of change in variables of jig clean up, which are length and frequency
of the stroke as well as the maintenance of the ragging and the screen. Other
variables are assumed constant
Initially, the length of the stroke in jig clean up BB is 4-5 mm, and in jig
clean up SB 5-5 mm. The frequency of jig clean up BB and jig clean up SB is
around180-190 spm. The grade and recovery in jig clean up BB are not meeting
the desired target which is 24,25% grade with 76,6% recovery. The grade in Jig
clean up SB is 39,13% with 46,0% recovery.
An experiment is done by altering the stroke length variable into 7-8 mm
in jig clean up BB, and 7-7 mm in SB, BB's with po's or SB's frequency of 160-180 spm. The maintenance in ragging is done by selecting the size and weight of

the hematite stones ragging from 4,2-4,5. The experiment resulted in an
improvement in jig clean up BB's grade, which increased to 42.18% Sn with
98.2% recovery. The grade in jig clean up SB turned into 45,49% Sn with 98.1%
recovery, thus the company has achieved the desired target.

RINGKASAN
Penelitian skripsi ini dilakukan di Kapal Keruk Meranteh PT.
Timah(Persero)Tbk, Bangka. Penulis mengkaji mengenai kinerja Jig clean up
pada proses konsentrasi bijih timah. Tujuan utama penelitian ini yaitu untuk
mengevaluasi analisis keberhasilan produktivitas Jig clean up yaitu kadar,
recovery, dan rasio konsentrasi agar memenuhi target yang diinginkan perusahaan
yaitu kadar sebesar 30-40% Sn dan recovery > 97%.
Kondisi awal jig clean up pada proses konsentrasi di Kapal Keruk belum
mencapai target yang diinginkan perusahaan. Pada saat pengamatan, sering terjadi
kebuntuan pada screen karena banyak kerikil yang menyumbat. Terdapat banyak
jigbed yang bentuk dan beratnya tidak sesuai. Panjang dan frekuensi pukulan
terlalu cepat yang mengakibatkan cassiterite berbutir halus tidak sempat
mengendap sehingga mudah terbawa aliran permukaan dan hanyut sebagai tailing.
Dari permasalahan tersebut, penulis melakukan penelitian agar kinerja jig dapat
meningkat dan target perusahaan dapat tercapai dengan melakukan percobaan
merubah variabel pada jig clean up yaitu panjang dan frekuensi pukulan, serta
perawatan terhadap jigbed dan screen. Untuk variabel-variabel lainnya dianggap
tetap.
Pada kondisi awal. panjang pukulan pada jig clean up port yaitu 4-5 mm,
starboard 5-5 mm. Frekuensi pada jig clean up port dan starboard 180-190 spm.
Kadar dan recovery masih belum memenuhi target yang diinginkan yaitu kadar
pada jig clean up port sebesar 24,25% dengan recovery 76,6%. Kadar pada jig
clean up starboard sebesar 39,13% dengan recovery 46.0%.
Percobaan dilakukan dengan merubah variabel panjang pukulan menjadi
7-8 mm pada jig clean up port, starboard menjadi 7-7 mm dengan frekuensi port
maupun starboard sebesar 160-180 spm. Perawatan pada jigbed yaitu dilakukan
penyeleksian terhadap ukuran dan berat jenis batuan hematite berkisar antara 4,2-4,5. Dan percobaan tersebut, didapatkan hasil kadar pada jig clean up port
menjadi
42,18% Sn dengan recovery sebesar 98,2%. Kadar pada jig clean up starboard
menjadi 45,49% Sn dengan recovery 98,1%. Percobaan pada penelitian ini
berhasil meningkatkan kadar dan recovery pada jig clean up port dan jig clean up
starboard, sehingga target yang diinginkan perusahaaan telah tercapai.
