Abstract
The aim of this paper is estimating the tonnage and quality of the coal seam. Case study conducted in an area of East Kalimantan Province. Total coal resources are estimated based on the two main coal seam with thickness between 0.5-4.8m (Seam-A) and 0.5-3.45m (Seam-B). The distribution of coal quality is based on calorific value, total sulfur, and ash content. Spatial models performed with the geostatistic method. Point and block kriging technique is used to determine the estimated quantity and quality of coal deposits in the study area. Block kriging estimates indicate better accuracy compared with the point kriging estimates
