Abstract
The aim of the research in the Bombana area, Southeast Sulawesi Province is to determine the characteristics of gold ore deposits including the type, model, distribution of gold ore grade, as well as the thickness, and formation of rock type of placer gold deposits. Research methods: fieldwork, sampling by making trenches and test pits, analyzing samples, gold ore grade estimation using geostatistics. Based on the results of the field research, we know patterns of distribution of placer gold ore deposits controlled by a paleo-stream that has a relative east-west direction, and has undergone turbulence style. Heavy metals deposits accumulate due to a phenomenon of rotary movement converge. Variography analysis and resource estimation using geostatistics method indicate high grade distribution located inthe northeastareaof the research.Local geological framework indicates that the placer gold ore is not related to volcanic rock-related hydrothermal gold deposit, but assumed to originate from orogenic deposit
