Abstract
The research was conducted to get an understanding of the effect of four kinds rhizome extract to the mortality of Collosobruchus chinensis and to find a new botanical agent for insecticide. The experiment was carried out at plant Protection Laboratory, UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta. It was done since July up to Desember 1997, on Factorial Completely Randomized Designed, with two factor and five replicatons. First factor consisted of four kinds of rhizome extract (Alpinia galanga, Curcuma domestica, Zingiber oficinale and Kaempferia galanga) and the second factor was the extract concentration (0%, 12.5%, 25%, 50% and 100%). The mortality of Callosobruchus chinensis was tested by contact and oral applicaton to determine the LC 50 value. The value of LC 50 of Zingiber officinale, Alpinia galanga, Kaempferia galanga and Curcuma domestica extract were 25.68%,38.18%, 64.94% and 79.86% respectively by oral application, meanwhile by contact application, the extract got 51862,82%, 105.26%, 442,03% and 83,39% value of LC 50 respectively. Zingiber oficinale extract was the stomach poison, its toxicity was the highest and could be applicated orally. Curcuma domestica extract could be applicated by oral and by contact.
