Abstract
ABSTRACT The government of Colombia and the biggest guerilla group in the country, the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colobia (FARC), signed a final peace agreement on November 24, 2016. This final peace agreement put an end to the longest armed conflict in the Western Hemisphere and to long and convoluted peace talks. The following case study will discuss the process of the final peace agreement between government of Colombia with the biggest guerrila group in Colombia (FARC), and this paper will describe several phases of the peace process that over the course of more than four years, these talks went through ups and downs, including moments of real crisis – most profoundly when voters narrowly rejected the initial peace accord in October 2016, leading to several weeks of renegotiation.
