Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find empirical evidence about the influence of profitability,
liquidity, and firm size on the capital structure of banking companies in Indonesia Stock Exchange. By
knowing how the factors affect the capital structure, can help the banking company in determining the
fulfillment of funds that should be done so that corporate objectives can be achieved. The research
sample consisted of 43 companies selected by purposive sampling from banking companies listed in
Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2014 until 2016. The test of classical assumption and multiple
regression analysis is done by using SPSS statistical test tool version 20.0. The results of this study
indicate that the regression model of this study has met the requirements that there are no symptoms
of heteroskedastisitas, multikolinearitas, and autocorrelation and the data used normal distribution.
The results of this study indicate that: (1) profitability has significant effect to capital structure, (2)
liquidity has significant effect to capital structure, (3) firm size has significant effect to capital
structure.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan bukti empiris tentang pengaruh profitabilitas,
likuiditas, dan ukuran perusahaan terhadap struktur modal perusahaan perbankan di Bursa Efek
Indonesia. Dengan mengetahui bagaimana faktor-faktor mempengaruhi struktur modal, dapat
membantu perusahaan perbankan di dalam menentukan pemenuhan dana yang seharusnya dilakukan
sehingga tujuan perusahaan dapat tercapai. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas 43 perusahaan yang dipilih
secara purposive sampling dari perusahaan perbankan yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia selama
tahun 2014 sampai 2016. Uji asumsi klasik dan analisis regresi berganda dilakukan dengan
menggunakan alat uji statistik SPSS versi 20.0. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa model regresi
penelitian ini telah memenuhi syarat yakni tidak terdapat gejala heteroskedastisitas, multikolinearitas,
dan autokorelasi serta data yang digunakan berdistribusi normal. Hasil dari penelitian ini
menunjukkan bahwa: (1) profitabilitas berpengaruh signifikan terhadap struktur modal, (2) likuiditas
berpengaruh signifikan terhadap struktur modal, (3) ukuran perusahaan berpengaruh signifikan
terhadap struktur modal.
