Abstract

In underground mining activities, one of the problems is related to the rock mass characteristics. The excavation is done by making a tunnel. This results is changes on stability of rock mass. In anticipation of it, is by determining the correct ground support system. The ground support system used is the ground support system based on mass rock classification Rock Mass Rating (RMR) system and QSystem. PT. Cibaliung Sumberdaya is an underground gold mining company and it is a subsidiary of PT. Aneka Tambang, Tbk. The gold mine ore deposit is a lowsulphidation ephitermal which form of vein extending from North to South, or from Cikoneng to Cibitung. Based on the Rock Mass Rating (RMR) and Q-System classification, rock mass in Cikoneng Cross Cut 6c is different at each research location, but mostly fair rock mass type. It is also related to the application of different ground support systems based on the rock mass classification. This difference class of rock mass is influenced by different rock mass characteristics at each onward of mining location. These characteristics include the parameters in the rating of the RMR of rock strength, Rock Quality Designation (RQD), discontinuity spacing, discontinuity condition (persistence, aperture, roughness, infilling, weathered), groundwater conditions and discontinuity orientation. And the parameters on Q-System rating are Rock Quality Designation (RQD), Joint Set Number (Jn), Joint Rood Number (Jr), Joint Alteration Number (Ja), Joint Water Reduction (Jw) and Stress Reduction Factor (SRF). The results of data processing is showed generally that rock mass classification, Rock Mass Rating (RMR) system and Q-System can applied for determination of ground support system in underground mining tunnel.
