Abstract
Research locates in the area of 8.98 ha. The problem is to make the design stages of overburden stripping and coal mining with strip ratio consideration of 5:1. Mine plan design is based on the structure contour of coal roof and floor, and a map of the latest situation of mine. The mine plan design provides an overview of: (i) the progress of mine plan, (ii) backfilling progress plan, (c) plan of overburden hauling. Mine plan design influenced by: (a) the coal calorific value of 5,800kcal/kg, (b) geotechnical recommendations for the bench height of 8m, (c) geotechnical recommendations for the bench width of 3m, (c) face angel of 600. Results of the study include: bench height of 8m, bench width of 3m, face angle of 600, and overall slope angle of 480. Geometry of disposal area has a slope of 450. Averange stripping ratio is under 5:1. Match factor of mine equipment (loading and hauling) is moderate: 0.97 to 1.01. In the first, second, fourth, and sixth month have the waiting time for hauling equipment, while in the third and fifth month there is a waiting time for loading equipment. The design of the stripping of overburden can be applied using the back filling method. The benefit of this research is the results of the study can be used as a reference in determining the direction of the stages of mining, and optimization of coal mining in the study area
