Abstract
THE STUDY OF GROUNDWATER CRITICAL LEVEL IN GUNUNG GAJAH VILLAGE AND THE SURROUNDING, BAYAT SUB-DISTRICT, KLATEN DISTRICT, CENTRAL JAVA PROVINCE WINDIA NIRMALA 114.100.069 ABSTRACT In the dry season, water availability is limited due to the position of groundwater level that went deeper, while the number of population and water demand are progressively increasing. Thus, the imbalances between availability or reserve of groundwater and the water necessity causes the water crisis problem. Research about The Study of Groundwater Critical Level is to determine the amount of groundwater availability, groundwater necessity, and also the critical level of groundwater in Gunung Gajah village and the surrounding, Bayat sub-district, Klaten district, Central Java Province. Research of the groundwater critical level conducted by survey method, interview and mathematical. The parameters used for the research such as the condition of aquifer (hydraulic conductivity, aquifer thickness and depth of groundwater table), topography, slope, climate, soil texture, infiltration, permeability of soil, land use, population and data needs of the domestic water, agriculture and livestock. The groundwater critical level is obtained by comparing the amount of groundwater needed and the availability of groundwater at the research area. From the research, can be found that the total availability of groundwater in the study area is 569.153.016 l/year, and the total needs of groundwater is 170.429.742 l/year. Based on the water crisis criteria by Directorate of Water Resources Program, obtained the critical value of groundwater in the study area is 29%, classified in uncrisis class. And for the next 10 years the critical level increased to 30.79%, also classified in uncrisis class. From the result, the environmental management needed to maintain the availability of groundwater at the study area is to do rooftop rainwater collecting techniques and using the surface water from Kali Dengkeng through simple water filter.
