Abstract

Keberhasilan hidup mahasiswa tidak hanya dipengaruhi oleh kecerdasan
intelektual (IQ) semata, tetapi juga dipengaruhi oleh kecerdasan lain yaitu
kecerdasan emosional (EQ). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui
apakah kecerdasan emosional mempengaruhi tingkat pemahaman akuntansi.
Kecerdasan emosional diukur mulai pengenalan diri, pengendalian diri, motivasi,
empati, dan keterampilan sosial, sedangkan tingkat pemahaman akuntansi diukur
berdasarkan nilai Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif (IPK).
Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa akuntansi tingkat akhir
fakultas ekonomi Universitas Islam Indonesia, Universitas Atmajaya Yogyakarta
dan STIE YKPN. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 135 responden terpilih
dari 200 kuisioner yang telah disebarkan kepada rerponden. Untuk menjawab
perumusan, tujuan dan hipotesis penelitian maka analisis yang digunakan adalah
analisis regresi linier berganda. Variabel-variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini
adalah pengenalan diri, pengendalian diri, motivasi, empati, dan keterampilan
sosial; sedangkan variabel terikatnya adalah tingkat pemahaman akuntansi
mahasiswa (Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif). Data yang diperoleh dengan bantuan
software SPSS 16.
Berdasarkan hasilnya, dari lima hipotesis yang dikemukakan, hipotesis 1,
2, dan 3 diterima yang menyatakan bahwa pengenalan diri, pengendalian diri,
motivasi berpengaruh terhadap tingkat pemahaman akuntansi mahasiswa.
Sedangkan hipotesis 4 dan 5 ditolak yang menyatakan bahwa empati dan
keterampilan sosial tidak bepengaruh terhadap tingkat pemahaman akuntansi.
Banyak faktor-faktor kecerdasan emosional yang berpengaruh dalam kehidupan
individual, dalam hal ini mahasiswa. Misalnya faktor tekanan mental, lingkungan
pergaulan, trauma kegagalan, masalah pribadi, kegiatan diluar kampus (bekerja),
budaya, atau bisa saja disebabkan oleh perilaku belajar mahasiswa.
Kata Kunci : Kecerdasan emosional (EQ), Tingkat Pemahaman Akuntansi (IPK),
pengenalan diri, pengendalian diri, motivasi, empati, dan ketrampilan sosial.

Purpose of this research was to found whether emotional intelligence influence
accountancy understanding level. Emotional intelligence measured began from
self introduction, self control, motivation, empathy, and social ability, whereas
accountancy understanding level was measured based on Cumulative
Achievement Index value (IPK).
The population in this study is the final level accounting student of
economic faculty of the Universitas Islam Indonesia, Universitas Atmajaya
Yogyakarta, STIE YKPN. The sample in this research is 135 respondents was
selected from the 200 questionnaires that had been distributed to rerponden. To
answer formulation, objectives and hypotheses of this research so the analysis
used is multiple linear regression analisys. Independent variable within this
research was self introduction, self control, motivation, empathy, and social
ability; whereas adhered variable was accountancy understanding level of student
(Cumulative Achievement Value). Data obtained supported by software SPSS 16.
.Based on the result, from five hypothesis stated, hypothesis 1, 2, and 3
were accepted which stated that self introduction, self control, motivation were
have influence to accountancy understanding level of student. Whereas both
hypothesis 4 and 5 were rejected which stated that both empathy and social
ability have no influence to accountancy understanding level. Much emotional
intelligence factors which influence to individual daily live, in this case was
student. For example mental depression factor, social intercourse environment,
failure trauma, personal problem, activity out of campus (working), culture or
could be caused by learning student behavior.
