Abstract

The silver handicraft business in Kotagede has continued to decline in the era of industrial competition 4.0. Innovation is the main source of competitiveness, while total quality management (TQM) and knowledge management can affect innovation performance. The indirect effect of TQM practices on innovation performance through knowledge management processes is still unclear. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of TQM practices on innovation performance through knowledge management processes of silver craft MSMEs in Kotagede. The survey method and purposive sampling technique were used so that 57 questionnaires were distributed to a selected sample of 66 populations. The results of data analysis using Partial Least Square (PLS) technique show that TQM practices has a positive effect on both knowledge management processes and innovation performance and that knowledge management processes is a mediator between TQM practices and innovation performance even though the effect is still weak.
