Abstract
Fashion industry which has grown and developed quickly cause
business competition be very competitive. PT MJOINT is a company which are
engaged in fashion that produces bag, shoes and sandals with vegetable leather
materials. PT MJOINT implements Make-to-Order (MTO) production strategy to fulfill
various order according to what customers demands. In MTO system the production
process will begin when the order came and started with the raw material planning
that takes a long time so as to cause its length of lead time. A long lead time are often
causes delays in production so as to force companies issued the fees are for overtime.
Companies need to implement a production system that is able to meet very
diverse orders and have fast response time. Based on these problems Mass
Customization (MC) strategy will be applied. This strategy uses concept of production
that based on orders and inventory. The application of this strategy expected to reduce
lead time so that delayed production no longer occur.
The result of this research showed that by shifting the position of CODP can
reduce lead time from 30 days to 26 day. With this reduction the production delay can
be overcome. In terms of the cost production system the companies will spend less cost
and gain more advantages compared to before applied this strategy.
