Abstract

The objectives of this research were to determine the level susceptibility soil mass movement for areas of existing settlement in Tanjungharjo and determine the impact of soil mass movement on the settlement. This research has conducted in Tanjungharjo Village, Kulonprogo District. The method used in this research is a survey method, while the determination of sample points/observations were made purposively terms of determining the sample points based on an overlay map of the Earth Indonesia visual, geological maps, land use maps and slope maps, so that got 53 LMU (land mapping units). LMU narrow taken at least one sample/observation point, while the LMU that at most there were 44 samples/point of observation. Overall there were 306 samples/point of observation. Then in the neighborhood of each sample point as described morphologic parameters. The results showed that the susceptibility of soil mass movement for settlement areas in the Tanjungharjo Village have 3 levels of susceptibility zone of soil mass movement is very low with an area of 201.760 ha (30.66%), low with an area 447.294 ha (67.97%) and medium with area 9.043 ha (1.37%). Impact of soil mass movement on the settlement in the areas of research is that while there were no casualties and property loss. Keywords: susceptibility, soil mass movement, settlement.
