Abstract

Jatropha as A Crop Former Coal Mine Land Reclamation in the PT. KPC Kaltim to Support Energy Independence. Exploitation of coal is still moving and land degradation will continue to occur, while the coal minerals are natural resources that cannot renewable. It is necessary to examine the plants that are suitable for land reclamation as well as to support the energy source that is renewable of bio-fuel was plant jatropha. The objectives of this study were (a). To find out the suitability jatropha on land the ex coal mining and (b) Develop Jatropha on land at ex coal mine PT. Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC).The method used is a survey method. Soil sampling with a random method as much as 40 points on top of land fill of top soil that have been spreading as thick as 50 cm above overberden in the form of tiered on the reclamation area. Furthermore, top soil planted with jatropha with a population of 2500 stems/ha. Research parameters are the same parameters (18 parameters) to match the distance of plants according to Mulyani (2007) and the production of Jatropha. The results showed that Jatropha is suitable appropriate (symbol S2) at ex coal mine, by limiting the soil acidity (pH is 5.4). Production of jatropha on average 1.5 kg/tree equals 3.75 tones/ha. If every coal mining companies that generally have hundreds of hectares of land, and the company would then reclaiming the jatropha bio-fuel energy independence in Indonesia will be quickly achieved. Key words: Jatropha, land suitability, soil acidity.
