Abstract
Isu tentang difabilitas seringkali coba disuarakan oleh berbagai kalangan
yang concern terhadap perjuangan para difabel. Film dengan kekuatannya yang
imajinatif menjadi salah satu corong yang menghubungkan gagasan ini kepada
masyarakat. Upaya ini dilakukan untuk membuka pemikiran publik terhadap
konsep kecacatan manusia yang selama ini cenderung mendiskreditkan difabel.
Kecacatan dianggap sebagai kutukan, aib dan menempatkan individu pada posisi
yang harus dikasihani. Pada penelitian ini penulis menggunakan teori semiotika
Ferdinand de Saussure dengan metode kualitatif. Melalui metode ini peneliti
menginterpretasikan dan mengelaborasi makna di balik simbol-simbol yang
terdapat dalam film ini. Hasil penelitian dianalisis berdasarkan pengamatan pada
objek penelitian serta data-data pendukung lainnya yang peneliti dapatkan melalui
wawancara dengan sutradara, serta informasi dari literatur dan data-data internet.
Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, penulis menyimpulkan bahwa main
statement yang terdapat dalam film ‘Bermula dari A’ adalah bahwa orang dengan
difabilitas ternyata mampu menjalani kehidupannya dengan baik. Difabel mampu
berinteraksi dengan masyarakat serta mampu menghadapi hambatan dengan cara
yang unik. Sutradara sebagai komunikator ingin menyampaikan kepada penonton
bahwa pada dasarnya difabel sebagai manusia juga ingin diakui keberadaannya,
dianggap normal dan tidak dipandang rendah hanya karena perbedaan secara fisik.
Issue on disablement often vocalized by all society level that concern with
disable people. Film with its audio visual strength becomes a funnel that relates
idea and public thinking towards human disablement to the society. This effort is
done to open public thinking towards human disablement thinking that all this
time tends to discrete disable people. Basically, the problem faced by disable
people is negative thinking pattern and has been rooted in the society about
disablement. Disablement is considered as a curse, dishonor, and place the
individual on the pitiable position. Even as social being, naturally every human
has desire to be respected and acknowledged their existence, aside from their
strengths and weaknesses. The writer uses semiotic theory of Ferdinand De
Saussure with qualitative method. Through this method, the researcher interprets
and elaborates the meaning behind symbols in this movie. The result research is
analyzed based on the observation research object and other supporting data
obtained by the researcher through interview with the director, and information of
literature and internet data. Based on the conducted research, the writer can
conclude that main statement in the movie of “Bermula dari A’ is that person with
dissabilities can run their live’s well . Dissabilities person can interact with the
society and faces any trouble wih the unique ways. The director, as a
communicator in this movie wants to deliver that every human need to be avowed
for their existences, considered as a normal persons, and not treated as a
despicable person because the difference of their body.
