Abstract
Benih kacang tanah adalah benih ortodoks dengan kandungan lemak dan
protein yang tinggi, sehingga memiliki daya simpan yang rendah. Selain itu, benih
bersifat higroskopis dan kadar airnya selalu berkeseimbangan dengan kelembaban
tempat penyimpanan. Hal yang harus diperhatikan dalam penyimpanan benih
adalah kondisi ruang simpan dan kemasan yang digunakan. Penggunaan abu
sekam padi dapat menjaga kelembaban sekitar benih, sehingga kadar air benih
relatif stabil. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk memperoleh dosis abu sekam padi
dan jenis kemasan yang mampu mempertahankan mutu benih kacang tanah.
Percobaan dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Pemuliaan Tanaman dan Teknologi
Benih Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta dari bulan
Februari sampai Mei 2015. Percobaan dilakukan dengan menggunakan
Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial dengan dua faktor. Faktor pertama
adalah dosis abu sekam padi, yaitu D1 (5 %), D2 (10 %), D3 (15 %) dan D4 (20
%). Faktor kedua adalah macam kemasan simpan, yaitu K1 (kantong plastik), K2
(kantong kertas) dan K3 (aluminium foil). Hasil percobaan menunjukkan
penggunaan abu sekam padi sebanyak 15% dalam kemasan aluminiumfoil mampu
mempertahankan mutu benih hingga 3 bulan penyimpanan. Hal ini ditunjukkan
dengan kadar air (7,48%), daya hantar listrik (117,9 mS/cm
3
), asam lemak bebas
(1,38%), daya kecambah (94%), indeks vigor (7,04) dan keserempakan tumbuh
(80,67%).

SEED(ARACHIS HYPOGEA) USING RICE HUSK ASH AND

ABSTRACT
Peanut seeds is orthodox seed with high fat and protein content, so it has
short longevity. In addition, seeds are hygroscopic and water content always
balanced with relative humidity. Several aspects as storage condition and
packaging material should be taken into consideration in seeds storage. The use of
rice husk ash can keep moisture around the seeds, so the seeds moisture content is
relatively stable. The objective of experiment was to get quantity of rice husk ash
and packaging material that are able to maintain seeds quality of peanut. The
exsperiment was conducted in laboratory of Plant Breeding and Seed Technology
Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Yogyakarta in February to May
2015. The experiment design used completely randomized design (CRD) factorial
of two factors. The first factor is the quantity of rice husk ash, that is D0 (5%), D1
(10%), D2 (15%) and D3 (20%). The second factor is the packaging material, that
is K1 (plastic bag), K2 (paper bag) and K3 (aluminum foil). The result of the
experiment showed that using rice husk ash as much as 15% with aluminium foil
after three months storage, was able to retain the quality of peanut seeds. It was
showed by moisture content (7,48%), electrical conductivity (117,9 mS/cm

), free
fat acid (1,38%), germinatian (94%), vigour index (7,04) and simultaneity grow
(80,67%).
