Abstract
Kata kunci : Magnetotellurik, panasbumi, resistivitas, penampang 2D MT method is one of geophysical methods to identify the state of the subsurface rocks looking for variations in resistivity values. Variations in resistivity values can be seen in the 2D resistivity cross-section, so it can be seen also from the position of the cap rock, reservoir and heat source. Research in the "VLC"geothermal field, Polewali Mandar, West Sulawesi was conducted to determine the resistivity value of cap rock, reservoir and heat source, also to determine the position of the zone of cap rock, reservoir and heat source from the results of a cross-resistivity 2D obtained through magnetotelluric (MT)methodmeasurement. The author used secondary data consists of 12 measurement points in 2 line. Data processing was done by processing field data that recording resistivity values in the time dimension (time series), until get a 2D cross-sections. Application programs that used from the start of the study was SSMT2000 for FFT and Robust process, MTEdit to the editing the data, and WinGLink for last processing up to get a 2D cross-section of resistivity. 2D cross-sections interpretation of resistivity results showed low resistivity (<85 Ωm) as the cap rock, medium resistivity (85-285 Ωm) as the geothermal reservoir rock, and high resistivity (> 700 Ωm) as the heat source rock. Distribution pattern on the cap rock found in the northern part of the fault on lline1 and line 2 with the area around the depth of -1200 m above sea level. Reservoir rock found in all areas of the line 1 and line 2 at -2000 meters above sea level. Zones are indicated as the heat source rock seen on line 1 only, located at a depth of more than -2000 meters above sea level. Keywords: magnetotelluric, geothermal, resistivity, 2D cross-section
