Abstract

In the last decade, the top 10 ranking in the list of troop contributor countries to UN Peacekeeping Operations is dominated by developing countries, including Bangladesh which is always ranked first or second since 2005. It raises a question about what the motivation of the developing countries willing to send troops in large numbers for UN Peacekeeping Operations?. This thesis attempts to investigate the cause of the increased participation of developing countries in UN Peacekeeping Operations, and what the motive behind developing countries willing to send troops in large numbers. On the whole motive of developing countries can be grouped into two, political and economic motives. Keywords: UN Peacekeeping Operations, developing countries, Bangladesh, motivation.
