Abstract
ABSTRAK Penelitian berjudul “Makna Kritik Sosial Dalam Lirik Lagu Knua (Desa) Karya Grup Musik Galaxy” ini bertujuan untuk memahami makna kritik sosial yang disampaikan Galaxy melalui lirik lagu Knua (Desa). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan teori semiotika Ferdinand de Saussure di mana teks dipilah kemudian diteliti berdasarkan konsep tanda yang terdiri dari signifier, signified, dan signification. Signifier (penanda) dilihat sebagai bentuk atau wujud fisik yang dalam penelitian ini adalah lirik lagu. Signified (petanda) merupakan makna yang terungkap melalui konsep, fungsi, atau nilai-nilai yang terkandung dalam lirik lagu. Signification (pertandaan) merupakan relasi tanda yaitu penanda dan petanda ini kemudian dijelaskan dengan kesepakatan bersama (konvensi sosial). Validitas data ini diperkuat dengan (1) siapa komunikator, (2) motivasi komunikator, (3) intersubyektif, (4) konteks fisik dan sosial. Pola (1) dan (2) menganalisis komunikator dan alasan yang mendorong disampaikannya tanda, pola (3) menghadirkan pendapat kompeten lain yang berkaitan dengan materi penelitian, dan pola (4) menganalisis posisi tanda yang disampaikan komunikator dalam situasi fisik dan sosial. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa lagu Knua (Desa) yang dipopulerkan grup musik Galaxy mengandung makna kritik sosial yang terdiri dari empat bagian besar yaitu (bait I) kritik mengenai kebohongan terutama pengingkaran janji kampanye politik, (bait II) kritik terhadap sikap tidak peduli yang ditunjukkan pemerintah terhadap masyarakat, (bait III) kritik terhadap korupsi dan kebijakan yang tidak pro-rakyat, dan (bait IV) kritik terhadap nepotisme dalam tubuh Pemerintah Timor Leste. ABSTRACT This research namely “The Social Criticsm as Presented in the Lyric of Knua (Family Village), a Song by Galaxy” aims to find out the social criticsm to the Timor Leste Government as presented in the lyric of Knua (Family Village) a song by Galaxy. The method of this research is qualitative method which uses Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiotic theory. Applying this theory, researcher devides the lyric of Knua into some paragraphs, analyzes them based on the sign concepts which include signifier, signified, and signification. Signifier is looked as the the physical form of the sign – which in this research is found as the lyric of the song Knua. Signified is the meaning which comes out based on the concepts, functions, and values that showed in the song’s lyric. Signification is found as the relationship between signifier and signified in the social-conventional corridor. The validity of the data are backed up by (1) who communicator is, (2) communicator’s motivation, (3) intersubjectivity, and (4) the social-physical context. The first two analyze the communicator and his purpose in showing the sign, the third model shows other competent opinions related to the research materials, and the forth analyzes the sign roles in physical and social context. The results of this research show that the lyric of Knua contains of four main social criticsm ideas which are (paragraph I) public manipulation; the paradox between things that happened in the political campaign moments and what the government did when they had been elected, (paragraph II) the careless habbits of the government against the society, (paragraph III) corruption and non-social care policy, and (paragraph IV) the government’s nepotism policies.
