Abstract
Penelitian ini berjudul “Analisis Gaya Kepemimpinan pada Komunikasi Organisasi dalam Upaya Menumbuhkan Motivasi Kerja Karyawan (Studi Deskriptif di Butik Friday to Sunday Yogyakarta)”. Butik Friday to Sunday adalah salah satu butik di Yogyakarta yang menawarkan koleksi pakaian serta aksesoris terkini dan bermutu yang dapat dinikmati oleh para kaum hawa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gaya kepemimpinan yang diterapkan di butik Friday to Sunday Yogyakarta dalam menumbuhkan motivasi kerja para karyawannya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan menggambarkan fenomena-fenomena gaya kepemimpinan, komunikasi organisasi, serta upaya pemimpin dalam memotivasi kerja para karyawan di butik Friday to Sunday Yogyakarta. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan yang dapat menumbuhkan motivasi kerja karyawan di butik Friday to Sunday adalah perpaduan gaya kepemimpinan Partisipatif, Orientasi Prestasi, dan Suportif, tetapi gaya kepemimpinan Orientasi Prestasi lah yang paling dominan yang ada pada diri pemimpin. Peningkatan tersebut dapat dilihat pada peningkatan kerja para karyawan, misalnya kerajinan dan ketekunan mereka dalam melakukan tugas-tugasnya. Selain itu, sifat loyalitas para karyawan juga salah satu bentuk peningkatan motivasi di dalam butik Friday to Sunday Yogyakarta. Komunikasi dalam organisasi yang terjadi selalu mengedepankan keterbukaan dan kekeluargaan, sehingga semua pihak dalam perusahaan dapat mengetahui apa yang menjadi keinginan para karyawannya dan begitu pun sebaliknya, walaupun masih ada beberapa karyawan yang ragu untuk berkomunikasi langsung dengan pemimpin. Hal ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan pada pemimpin yang ada di butik Friday to Sunday sudah mampu menumbuhkan motivasi kerja para karyawan. Kata kunci: gaya kepemimpinan, motivasi kerja, komunikasi organisasi, butik Friday to Sunday This research is entitled “The Analysis of Leadership Style within the Organizational Communication In Order To Motivate the Employee (A Descriptive Study of Friday to Sunday Boutique Yogyakarta). Friday to Sunday Boutique is located in Yogyakarta and sells the latest female clothing with high quality. The purpose of this research is to find out the leadership style applied in Friday to Sunday Boutique Yogyakarta in motivating its employee. The research used qualitative descriptive method in describing the occurred phenomenon of the leadership style, organizational communication, and work motivation. The data were collected through observation, deep interview, and literature study required for this research. The interviewee in this research is the owner and employee of the boutique. The result shows that the applied leadership style has successfully raise the work motivation in the office as the combination of participatory, achievement-oriented, and supportive leadership style. As the result of this well applied leadership style, the employee are become more diligent and loyal to the company. Moreover, the applied organizational communication always put the openness and kinship as the priority. Hence, everyone basically has been communicating very well in addressing their thoughts although there are still some employee who are having some difficulties in communicating with the leader. The leader also directly motivates the employee by sharing the thoughts and rewarding anyone who has reached the company’s target. Therefore, it can be concluded that Friday to Sunday Boutique has been able to motivate its employee well. Keywords: leadership style, work motivation, organization, Friday to Sunday Boutique.
