Abstract

The increasing global demand for coffee beans continues to drive annual production growth. However, crop failure often occurs due to pest outbreaks, particularly by Hypothenemus hampei, which causes severe yield losses and reduces coffee quality. Beauveria bassiana is an effective and eco-friendly entomopathogenic fungus for pest control. This study aimed to examine the interaction between B. bassiana concentration and application time, as well as to determine the most effective combination in reducing pest populations on coffee plants. The experiment used a Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with two factors: concentration (B₁ = 20 g/L, B₂ = 30 g/L, B₃ = 40 g/L, and B₄ = 50 g/L) and application time (W₁ = 7:00 a.m. and W₂ = 5:00 p.m.). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at a 5% significance level, followed by the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) and orthogonal contrast at α = 5%. Results showed that 50 g/L produced the highest spore count (11.58 × 10⁷). The combination 50 g/L at 5:00 p.m. gave the lowest bean damage intensity (19.39%), highest pest mortality (68.15%), and infection rate (72.96%), while The 30 g/L concentration applied at 5:00 p.m. resulted in the lowest fruit attack rate (29.01%).
