Abstract

The presence of weeds in edamame soybean cultivation reduces crop productivity.
One of the efforts to control weeds in no-tillage system is through herbicide
spraying. This study aims to determine the appropriate dosage and effect of preplanting herbicides paraquat and glyphosate that are effective in suppressing weed
growth and providing the best growth and yield in edamame soybean plants with a
no-till system. This research was conducted from March - May 2025 in
Maguwoharjo, Depok Subdistrict, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta.
The experimental design used a Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD)
with single factor consisting of 8 treatments and 3 replications, including of
paraquat 1 L/ha, paraquat 1.5 L/ha, paraquat 2 L/ha, glyphosate 2.5 L/ha,
glyphosate 3 L/ha, glyphosate 3.5 L/ha, mechanical control, and control (intensive
tillage). The observational data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance
(ANOVA) at the 5% level, then the data was further tested with the Least Significant
Difference (LSD) test at the level of 5%. The results showed that the application of
glyphosate herbicide effectively suppressed weed growth in edamame soybean
cultivation at an optimal dose of 3 L/ha, with a weed control efficiency of 60.27%.
However, weed control using paraquat and glyphosate herbicides did not
significantly improve the growth and yield of edamame soybeans.
