ABSTRACT
ANALYSIS OF NICKEL LATERITE RESOURCE POTENTIAL BASED ON
RESISTIVITY METHOD AND DRILLING DATA IN “ND” AREA,
POMALAA DISTRICT, KOLAKA REGENCY, SOUTHEAST SULAWESI

In recent years, demand for nickel has increased rapidly along with the
development of the electric vehicle industry, renewable energy technology, and
demand for high-quality metal raw materials. Indonesia, as one of the countries
with the largest laterite nickel reserves, has a strategic position in the global nickel
industry. Based on the large demand for nickel, the identification of zones with high
nickel content is key in improving the efficiency of nickel mine exploration and
development, especially in the Southeast Sulawesi region. The research conducted
in the “ND” area used the resistivity geoelectric method of dipole - dipole
configuration and there were 14 drill points in the study area. The number of tracks
in this study was 8 tracks with the longest track of 1370 meters and the shortest
track length of 900 meters. Data acquisition in this study used Syscal Jr. IRIS
instrument and data processing using RES2DINV software, Surfer software and
RockWork software. The results showed that the research area is divided into 4
zones, namely the limonite zone with high resistivity value (157-407) Ohm.m,
saprolite zone with low resistivity value (<156) Ohm.m, saprolite rock zone with
medium resistivity value (135-310) Ohm.m and bedrock with very high resistivity
value (>407) Ohm.m. Potential nickel laterite resources in the research area are
located in the western part of the research lot with a saprolite zone thickness of
about (50-60) meters and a top soil layer thickness of (1 -2) meters with little
presence of boulder and saprolite rock layers. The amount of resources in the
“ND” area is 886,195.38 tons.
