Abstract

PT. Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) is a private company engaged in coal mining, located in District Sangatta, East Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan
Province. Mining system used by PT. KPC is a system of open-pit mining (surface mining).
Activity stripping overburden (topsoil) using 2 units of unloading namely backhoe excavator Komatsu PC750 and combined with 12 conveyances ADT (articulated dump trucks) Volvo A35E. Transport distance furthest from the
loading point to the dumping point to 1,350 m.
Problems that occur at this time is not yet achieved a production target of 340,000.00 LCM / month. This is due to the low efficiency of the work of
excavator loading and transportation, but it is also due to less amount of rainfall in the excavator bucket load. Real production stripping of overburden is currently
only 243,792.04 LCM / month, so there is still a shortage of production of 96,207.96 LCM / month.
Efforts are being made so that production targets can be achieved that is done perbaikkan road at the loading point due to the addition amount of rainfall in
the bucket, it can lead to increased load on the vessel (vessel) trucks that could lead to collapse of the road on the loading point the barrier and affect production,
for it perbaikkan road needs to be done in order to reduce barriers And subsequent attempts that by increasing the amount of rainfall from 4 times to 5 times and reduce obstacles can be avoided thus increasing the
effective working time and work efficiency increase as well. After the addition of bulk bucket and increase work efficiency, production capacity increased to
369,995.87 conveyance LCM / month and the production capability excavator loading increased to 394,785.94 LCM / month.
