INTISARI
Batik merupakan salah satu kebudayaan Indonesia berupa kain bermotif yang
dibuat dengan cara menorehkan malam (lilin) di atasnya. Industri batik yang berada di
Desa Binaan PT PLN Nusantara Power UP Rembang, yaitu di Desa Sendangasri,
Kecamatan Lasem, Kabupaten Rembang, Provinsi Jawa Tengah belum dilengkapi
dengan pengolahan sehingga dapat berpotensi mencemari lingkungan. Fly ash PT PLN
Nusantara Power UP Rembang akan dimanfaatkan menjadi media filter dalam proses
pengolahan limbah cair batik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis dan
mengevaluasi kualitas limbah cair batik berdasarkan standar effluen, mengevaluasi
kualitas air permukaan yang menerima limbah cair batik, menganalisis kemampuan fly
ash dalam menurunkan kadar pencemar limbah cair batik, serta merancang arahan
pengelolaan untuk limbah cair batik di daerah penelitian berdasarkan penggunaan fly
ash sebagai media filter.
Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode kuantitatif.
Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode survei dan pemetaan lapangan.
Pengambilan sampel limbah cair batik menggunakan metode grab sampling,
sedangkan pengambilan sampel air permukaan dilakukan dengan metode purposive
sampling. Metode evaluasi standar efluen digunakan untuk mengetahui persen
penurunan yang harus dicapai dalam pengolahan. Pengujian laboratorium dilakukan
pada limbah cair batik dan air permukaan dengan parameter COD, TSS, Khrom Total,
dan pH. Metode eksperimental dilakukan dengan percobaan unit pengolahan filtrasi
skala laboratorium dengan variasi ketebalan fly ash (0 cm, 10 cm, 20 cm) dan variasi
waktu kontak 90 menit, 120 menit, dan 180 menit.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa parameter COD dan TSS masih
melebihi baku mutu, yaitu sebesar 4557,5 mg/L dan 227 mg/L dengan target
penurunan sebesar 96,71% dan 77,97%. Parameter COD dan TSS melebihi baku mutu
pada air permukaan penerima limbah batik di selokan dan saluran irigasi. Unit filtrasi
yang dapat direkomendasikan sebagai arahan pengelolaan yaitu pada ketebalan fly ash
10 cm dengan waktu kontak 120 menit dengan dimensi 1,2 m x 1 m x 1,5 m. Unit
filtrasi ini memiliki efisiensi penurunan pada parameter COD dan TSS berturut-turut
sebesar 94,33% dan 80,17%. Namun, pengolahan ini belum dapat menurunkan kadar
COD sehingga diperlukan tambahan unit pengolahan yaitu berupa bak ekualisasi dan
bak ABR (Anaerobic Baffle Reactor).

TREATMENT OF BATIK WASTEWATER USING FILTRATION METHOD
WITH FLY ASH IN THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT VILLAGE OF PT
PLN NUSANTARA POWER UP REMBANG

ABSTRACT
Batik is one of Indonesia's cultural heritages in the form of patterned cloth
made by applying wax on it. The batik industry in the foster village of PT PLN
Nusantara Power UP Rembang, located in Sendangasri Village, Lasem District,
Rembang Regency, Central Java Province, lacks proper waste processing, potentially
polluting the environment. Fly ash from PT PLN Nusantara Power UP Rembang will
be used as a filter medium in the batik wastewater treatment process. The purpose of
this study is to analyze and evaluate the quality of batik wastewater based on effluent
standards, evaluate the quality of surface water receiving batik wastewater, analyze
the ability of fly ash to reduce contaminants in batik wastewater, and design
management guidelines for batik wastewater in the study area based on the use of fly
ash as a filter medium.
The method used in this study is quantitative. Data collection was carried out
through surveys and field mapping. Batik wastewater samples were taken using the
grab sampling method, while surface water samples were taken using the purposive
sampling method. The effluent standard evaluation method was used to determine the
percentage reduction that must be achieved in the treatment process. Laboratory
testing was conducted on batik wastewater and surface water with parameters of
COD, TSS, Total Chromium, and pH. The experimental method was carried out with
a laboratory-scale filtration treatment unit trial, varying the thickness of the fly ash (0
cm, 10 cm, 20 cm) and contact time (90 minutes, 120 minutes, and 180 minutes).
The results showed that the COD and TSS parameters still exceeded the quality
standards, namely 4557.5 mg/L and 227 mg/L, with reduction targets of 96.71% and
77.97%, respectively. The COD and TSS parameters exceeded the quality standards in
surface water receiving batik wastewater in ditches and irrigation channels. The
filtration unit that can be recommended as a management guideline is with a fly ash
thickness of 10 cm and a contact time of 120 minutes, with dimensions of 1.2 m x 1 m
x 1.5 m. This filtration unit has an efficiency reduction in COD and TSS parameters of
94.33% and 80.17%, respectively. However, this treatment has not been able to reduce
COD levels sufficiently, so additional treatment units such as an equalization tank and
an ABR (Anaerobic Baffle Reactor) tank are required.
