INTISARI
Keterdapatan air payau di Kalurahan Gilangharjo merupakan hal yang tidak lazim
mengingat daerah ini memiliki jarak dengan laut cukup jauh serta masih
dipergunakannya air bawah tanah payau oleh masyarakat yang dapat memberikan
dampak negatif khususnya untuk kesehatan karena dapat menyebabkan diare dan
gatal-gatal sehingga diperlukan kajian mengenai karakteristik air payau, berdasarkan
kualitas air bawah tanah, genesa dan pengolahan air payau yang sesuai dengan
karakteristik serta proses pembentukannya.
Metode yang digunakan berupa survei dan pemetaan untuk mengetahui
karakter geologi fisik dan kimia, metode laboratorium digunakan untuk mengetahui
kualitas air payau (TDS, DHL, kekeruhan, salinitas, pH, Na, Ca, Mg, K, Cl, SO4,
HCO3, CO3, dan kesadahan) yang disesuaikan dengan bakumutu PerMenKes No
492/menkes/Per/IV/2010 dan PergubDIY No 20 Tahun 2008, metode matematis
dilakukan untuk menghitung nilai meq/L tiap parameter kemudian diplot ke dalam
diagram piper Kloosterman.
Berdasarkan 4 sampel air bawah tanah yang terindikasi payau adalah air bawah
tanah dengan kode sampel S2, pembentukan air bawah tanah payau di daerah
penelitian disebabkan adanya connate water yang berdasarkan diagram piper
Klosterman adalah tipe air bawah tanah berjenis air fosil (IV). Pengolahan air bawah
tanah payau dilakukan dengan menggunakan water treatment menggunakan metode
adsorbsi dengan tambahan reverse osmosis

ABSTRACT
The presence of brackish water in Gilangharjo Subdistrict is unusual considering that
this area is quite far from the sea and the community still uses brackish underground water
which can have a negative impact, especially on health because it can cause diarrhea and
itching, so a study of its characteristics is needed. brackish water, based on the quality of
underground water, the genesis of brackish water and the processing of brackish water in
accordance with its characteristics and formation process.
The methods used are surveys and mapping to determine the physical and chemical
geological characteristics, laboratory methods are used to determine the quality of brackish
water (TDS, DHL, turbidity, salinity, pH, Na, Ca, Mg, K, Cl, SO4, HCO3, CO3, and hardness)
which are adjusted to the quality standards of Minister of Health Regulation No.
492/menkes/Per/IV/2010 and PergubDIY No. 20 of 2008, a mathematical method is used to
calculate the meq/L value of each parameter and then plotted into a piper kloosterman
diagram.
Based on 4 underground water samples indicated as brackish, it is underground water
with sample code S2, the formation of brackish underground water in the research area is due
to the presence of connate water which, based on the Piper Klosterman diagram, is a type of
underground water that is fossil water (IV). Brackish underground water treatment is carried
out using water treatment using the adsorption method with the addition of reverse osmosis
