Abstract

Plastic is considered being the most utilized materials, likely in the form packaging for daily
used goods. Such plastic packaging would likely end up landfilled. In Indonesia, the amount of
plastic wastes reach 10 % of the total amount of municipal wastes. In that sense, the conversion
of plastic waste into fuel through pyrolysis, a process of thermally degrading material in the
absence of oxygen, might be thought of as a way to solve such situation. This study, focused on
plastics pyrolysis, has been performed by using plastic wastes originated from Polypropylene
(PP) sources. Non-catalytic pyrolysis process was conducted in a semi-batch reactor at four
various temperature of 400, 450, 500 and 550 ºC. The highest liquid yield, of 85, 07%, was
obtained at 550 ºC. However, the better fuel properties was found to be accommodated at 450
ºC operating temperature.
