Abstract

The services sector plays the most prominent role in the world's economy, and therefore the Services sector is the most severely affected by COVID-19. This presentation discusses the impact of COVID-19 on the services sector. The presentation starts with a description of the history of the service industry from the late 18th century to the present and the factors stimulating the transformation of the service economy. This presentation emphasizes the challenges of production planning and inventory control in the industry due to the COVID-19 pandemic, especially for the service sector. Considering the sustainability aspect, a safe workplace strategy for PPIC is recommended. It can be done by redesigning the workspaces and working arrangements to safeguard employees' health (physical safety) and well-being (emotional safety) while transforming their workflows and commercial footprints to ensure their future financial viability.
