Abstract
Using Kaolin for controlling Sitophylus zeamays on corn stored seed S. zeamays Motsch is the most destructive insect of corn stored seed. Control of this pest mostly depends on synthetic insecticide has caused several problem, such as insect resistance and resurgence. Therefore, developing alternative control using kaolin. Research to study the effect of kaolin on population and mortality of S. zeamays Motsch has been conducted at Plant Protection Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" University, Yogyakarta during August to November 2007. Research was arranged in Completely Randomized Design with three replications each batch consisted of 10 imagos of S. zeamays. Treatments consisted of six levels were dose of kaolin 0g; 0,1g; 0,2g; 0,3g; 0,4g and o,5g. The result showed that using kaolin 0,5g caused mortality significantly higher than other treatment, it was 80% at fifth day after application, suppressed population development, and seed weight reduction.
