Abstract

This research aims to find out the interaction between types and dosage of organic fertilizers and the yield of potato plants. In addition, measuring the growth and yield is performed to obtain the best combination of dosage and types of organic fertilizers. This research comprises the soil analysis taking place at the Laboratory of Faculty of AgricuLture UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta. The field research is conducted in Umbuharjo, Cangkringan sub-district, Sleman Regency, with elevation of 800 meters above sea level with regosol types of soils. The method used in this research is factorial field experiment (3+3)+1 as control which is arranged based on the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). Facior I is the organic fertilizer consisting PI =cow manure fertilizer; P2=chicken manure fertilizer and P3=compost fertilizer. Factor Il is the dosage of fertilizers comprising three treatments namely Dl=10 tons/hectare, D2=20 tons/hectare and D3=30 tons/hectare. The observed parameters are plant height (cm), leaf area (cm2), dry weight (g), tuber diameter, numbers of tuber, tuber weight per square hectare, and rate of starch. The data range then is analyzed at 5% significance level. To find out the difference between the treatment and the control the orthogonal contrast test is applied. Moreover, to find out the differences between levels the Duncan 's Multiple Range Test is performed at 5% significance level. There is an interaction between types of organic fertilizers and dosage of organic fertilizer on the potato plant in the parameter of tuber diameter and rate of starch of potato. The 20 tons hectare organic dos age treatment gives the best growth and yield of potato plant in the parameter of dry weight and tuber diameter both on cow manure fertilizer and chicken manure fertilizer. Cow manure fertilizer with the dosage of 20 tons hectare produces the highest rate of starch.
